Below, we’ve highlighted some of the many success stories patients have shared with us about the care they have received at Newton-Wellesley Hospital. If you have an experience with us that you’d like to share, we want to hear about it. Email us to share your story.
“I was in the emergency room for severe pain in the lower stomach area. The treatment I received from the moment I stepped into the hospital was first-rate. The entire staff was concerned about my well-being, and it showed not only during the check-in process but while I was waiting in the emergency room. Understanding my severe pain, the resident doctor took appropriate measures to ease my pain and proceed with the necessary test to determine my condition. Thank you, Newton-Wellesley, for being there both for myself and my family. You have set the bar very high in the medical community.”
“I just wanted to take a moment to thank you and everyone at Newton-Wellesley for the warmth and professionalism with which my father and I were treated this past Friday evening. While my father’s health will almost certainly continue to decline, the way your hospital’s staff treated us was a great source of comfort. Indeed, I observed that every patient who came in or out of the radiology department received the same high standard of treatment that we received. It has been very difficult for my father to cope with his declining health, and for me as well. So please extend my sincere gratitude to the folks in radiology and let them know how much I appreciated their thoughtfulness and caring at what has been a difficult time for both of us. I cannot begin to tell you how much it means to know someone cares when you come to them for help.”
“My mother was a patient on your floor. My family and I wish to express our thanks and gratitude to everyone who helped with her care. We realized quickly how sick she was and all the extra efforts that were made to keep her going. She is now back in assisted living and doing very well. From all the nurses, PCAs, hospitalists and staff, I can’t thank you enough. My husband and I have always been very pleased with the care we have received at Newton-Wellesley, but this past experience just reaffirms our belief that your hospital does, indeed, offer care second to none. My mother and I will be eternally grateful for all that you did for her in those two weeks.”
“Turn around and forget going into Boston. This hospital and their staff are incredible! Our first experience was my husband's hip replacement. The doctor had great bedside manner. He listened to our concerns and explained everything. We left feeling very comfortable with our decision. The next step was an info class. The nurse who made the presentation answered EVERY question, brought visual aids, and did it all with a smile and sincerity that made you feel like your favorite aunt was going to be holding your hand through the whole process. The day of surgery was like a well orchestrated symphony from the folks in pre-op to the amazing volunteers who staffed the family waiting area. NWH — our family’s hat is off to you and all of your amazing staff! I hope we don't need your services often, but when we do, we feel confident knowing we'll get expert care with you!”
“I would like to say Newton-Wellesley is the best hospital. I had a few overnight stays, and every single one of my nurses were incredible. They inspired me so much that, at the age of 33, I’ve decided to go back to school to become a nurse! My 3 yr old son just had a visit to the ER to get a couple of staples in his head due to hitting it on a window sill. Once again, the nurses were great! He didn't even cry! Even though I live 40 min away, I'll always use Newton-Wellesley Hospital!”
“My son was a patient at your Pediatric Emergency Room on Tuesday. I would like to express our sincerest gratitude to his doctor and all of the nurses who treated him. It was our first (and hopefully last) experience in an emergency room — and were both made so comfortable and relaxed during his treatment for dehydration. Everything was explained to him on a level he could clearly understand — a movie was provided for a great distraction, and he was not at all anxious or scared. Everything was also clearly explained to me — before his treatment, during, and after — as well as excellent aftercare instructions. Thank you so much.”
“Last Wednesday I brought my 11-month-old daughter into the ER after she fell down our stairs. The response and care we received was outstanding, and I wanted to let you all know how wonderful our experience was at Newton-Wellesley Hospital. We received immediate attention and care and, with the expert care of the nurses and doctors, I was re-assured that she was 100% normal and perfect — much to my immense relief! They even told me stories of their own children falling down stairs, falling out of strollers, etc., so that I would hopefully feel less guilt and failure as a mom and understand that these things happen despite our best actions to prevent them. Thank you, everyone, for your expert care.”
“I’m currently at Newton-Wellesley Hospital on the maternity/postpartum floor. Every single nurse that I have had for the past 72 hours has been beyond incredible, helpful, and NICE. I knew Newton-Wellesley was a fabulous hospital when I had my first child here 2 years ago, and it's been reaffirmed this time around. I don't think I can say enough great things about the staff here. THANK YOU!”
“After only a few minutes of sitting in the NWH ER waiting area, I was admitted to a room and seen quickly by a nurse who was so friendly and helpful. She got me comfortable and made sure we had all we needed until the Attending Physician could come in and see us. Within a few minutes, the doctor arrived in the room and instantly started to determine what I may have done. During the conversation, he was calm, professional and friendly. They recommended an orthopedic surgeon who determined that I have a torn calf muscle. Certainly not how I wanted to start the year, but having the professional team at Newton-Wellesley Hospital treating and dealing with me, put my mind at ease, and certainly made me know I was well taken care of. Once again, no doubt in my mind at all that Newton-Wellesley is the place to go when the need arises. Thank you to all who helped.”
“I would like to thank each and every person who was involved with my son on the day of his surgeries. This was our first time at Newton-Wellesley, and it will now be our preferred hospital. Every single person we had contact with was kind, thoughtful, and very accommodating to our situation. Our son is autistic and has developmental delays. He was treated with dignity and compassion and kindness every step of the way. The doctors, nurses, and staff went out of their way to make sure his surgery was successful and no stress for me.”
“Hands-down the nicest hospital I've ever been to in my entire injury-ridden life. I arrived at Newton-Wellesley expecting to be there for several hours and even brought my Kindle with me to kill the time. No sooner than I checked in was I whisked away into triage, then immediately brought back into the actual E.R. and seen by a physician. Total time from walking through the doors to being seen by a physician: 30 minutes. No, seriously. The lobby is really nice, and rather open and spacious. Multiple seating configurations allow for group seating or solo seats for those preferring more privacy. Modern, flat-screen TVs adorn the walls much like at airports, and sunlight fills the space. Yes, I am talking about an E.R. waiting room. Even the restroom off the waiting area was more hotel-like than hospital-like. The E.R. itself is large, and rooms feel more private than other hospitals I've been to. The staff was warm, caring, and incredibly efficient. More hospitals should be like this.”
“I ended up in the ER due to the stomach flu. The entire experience was awesome. From the OB in labor and delivery that kept calling the ER to make sure I was OK to the ultrasound tech who was just a doll. I delivered at BWH with my son and was nervous about going to a local hospital. This experience put me right at ease. The nurses were awesome too and told me I looked great even though I hadn't showered in 3 days and was a weird shade of green when I walked in! I am looking forward to my delivery there and wanted to share my experience!”
“I am sending this brief ‘Memo of Appreciation’ to convey a hearty THANK YOU for the outstanding hip-replacement surgical procedure you and your Newton-Wellesley Joint Reconstruction Team performed on my wife. Today, 12 days later, she is doing just fine and I'm now able to once more view that award-winning smile of hers — even when she's taking a walk! I can't express in words how appreciative we are for the priority attention you gave to her in recognizing her need for immediate surgery. We wish each of you and the Kaplan Center for Joint Reconstruction Surgery continued success. We will forever be grateful and thankful for what you did for us. You'll always be in our thoughts and prayers.”
“I’m a 66-year-old active male who had deteriorating hips. I am athletic and in good physical condition. I had bilateral THR using the anterior approach with Dr. Daniel Snyder at the Kaplan Joint Center in October 2012. I spent three nights at Newton-Wellesley Hospital and three nights at a local rehab facility. I started to drive after 16 days. At four weeks, I went on my bike for 12 miles. I am now four and a half months post-surgery. Three weeks ago, I skied for a week in the Austrian Alps. I am back to my tennis game playing competitive doubles on soft courts. I did pre-op physical therapy on my own before surgery and started outpatient physical therapy four weeks after. I am continuing physical therapy now, about once every two weeks. I am out of pain. I highly recommend Dr. Snyder for total hip replacement.”
