According to the National Institutes of Health, one-third of infertility cases involve a problem with the male partner. If you and your partner haven’t been able to start a pregnancy in a reasonable amount of time, you are not alone.
Our caring, compassionate team of fertility experts will work with you to create a personalized treatment plan to help you and your partner conceive a child. Many of these involve assisted reproductive technologies (ARTs), which are advanced techniques that bring your sperm together with your partner’s egg in the laboratory to increase the chances of successful fertilization.

In artificial insemination, your doctor will place large numbers of your healthy sperm either at the entrance of your partner’s cervix or into her uterus to have direct access to the fallopian tubes. We might recommend this approach if you have a low sperm count, which can make it harder for sperm to reach the eggs for fertilization.
IVF involves extracting your partner’s eggs, fertilizing them in the laboratory with your sperm, and transferring the resulting embryo(s) back into your partner’s uterus for implantation and development. IVF allows us to ensure the eggs are exposed to the best possible concentration of high-quality sperm.
Microsurgical fertilization includes techniques such as intracytoplasmic sperm injection (ICSI), in which we inject a single sperm into your partner’s egg. We then can watch fertilization take place under our microscope. Your doctor might recommend ICSI in cases of:
Certain hormonal imbalances in the brain or testicles can affect the development of sperm. If you have a hormonal disorder that affects your fertility, your doctor might recommend medication therapy. Hormone therapy and antibiotics are some of the medications our doctors most often recommend for patients to improve their fertility.
Your doctor might recommend surgery if you have an anatomical condition that affects:
Surgery allows our team to remove these barriers and can improve your fertility. Your doctor might also recommend surgery if you have a varicocele, which is a type of varicose vein in the scrotum. Removing a varicocele sometimes can improve the quality of sperm.
