NEWTON, MA –The 24th annual Newton-Wellesley Hospital Gala will be held on May 3 at the InterContinental Hotel Boston.
The money raised will support the hospital and the Community Collaborative, a unique initiative that expands the hospital’s services by addressing unmet health needs in ways that directly impact and support the local community. The collaborative focuses on lessening healthcare disparities, strengthening the social fabric of support, and empowering residents to lead healthier lives.
The collaborative serves the residents of six towns: Natick, Needham, Newton, Waltham, Wellesley, and Weston.
“This event isn't just a fundraiser. It’s an opportunity to fuel essential healthcare services and initiatives in our community that are often overlooked,” said Katie Connolly, Chief Development Officer. “We’re hoping for strong attendance once again and appreciate the support of our donors whose support is crucial as we bridge gaps, strengthen support networks, and empower individuals to lead healthier lives.”
This year’s Gala will feature the inaugural Community Champion Award, which will be presented to Dr. Michael Jellinek. Dr. Jellinek served as President of Newton-Wellesley Hospital from 2001-2012 and is Medical Director of the Newton-Wellesley Hospital Community Collaborative. He is Professor of Psychiatry and Pediatrics at Harvard Medical School and Adjunct Professor of Social Policy and Health Care at the Heller School, Brandeis University.
The Community Champion Award honors individuals who have shown exceptional commitment to building strong ties between Newton-Wellesley Hospital and surrounding communities, actively promoting the health and wellbeing of our neighbors. The award recognizes efforts that play a key role in enhancing relationships between the hospital and the diverse elements of its communities. The award will be presented to Dr. Jellinek by Jack Connors, Jr., chairman emeritus of Mass General Brigham.
