NEWTON, MA –Joseph ‘Joe’ Daniele, a distribution technician at Newton-Wellesley Hospital, celebrated his 50th work anniversary with the hospital last month.
Daniele began his career at Newton-Wellesley at age 16, in 1974, as a member of the housekeeping department. Over the last half century, he has also worked in the mail room, transportation department, and is currently a part of the receiving and distribution team.
“The support and fulfillment I've experienced here have made it a rewarding career. I've chosen to stay, because of the strong sense of community, and the opportunities for professional growth, that Newton-Wellesley has consistently offered,” Daniele said. “Over the years, I've developed connections with my colleagues and have been continually impressed by the hospital’s commitment to excellence and innovation.”
In his current position, Daniele delivers supplies across the hospital’s units, while providing support in sorting, collecting, and delivering mail. His 50th year on the job, which began on August 30, was marked with a special luncheon that included family, friends, and colleagues. His co-workers say his good nature, and willingness to always lend a hand, has always stood out.
“Maintaining a positive attitude in your daily activities can greatly enhance your experience and make your workday more enjoyable,” he said. “The majority of individuals I’ve interacted with at Newton-Wellesley are consistently pleasant, respectful, and professional.
” Daniele says the countless expressions of appreciation that he has received from patients are “genuinely rewarding.” And while he has five decades of work memories, Daniele says his most memorable days at Newton-Wellesley were personal – his two nephews were born at the hospital.
But after 50 years of service, he says he has no plans to retire anytime soon. “I find great satisfaction in working here. I have no complaints,” he said.
