To discuss a case personally, please use the phone numbers or e-mail addresses found in the individual listings. In order to avoid duplicate tests, MassGeneral for Children physicians review all relevant referral information, procedures, and tests before ordering additional studies.

The primary care physicians’ long-term perspective on their patients’ medical problems and their unique relationship with patients and their families is highly respected. Our pediatric subspecialists are here to work in full collaboration with referring physicians in the co-management of patients and to return the care of the patient to the family physician as soon as possible.

To enhance collaboration, and to facilitate the flow of patient-related information between subspecialist and referring physician, the subspecialists will:

• Call and/or fax the referring physician after each new patient visit
• Consult with the referring physician

General pediatric consultations/questions
If you have a patient with a problem that is not clearly within the domain of one specialty, if you would like a second opinion on a difficult problem, or if you are unsure which specialist would be most appropriate, you may request a general pediatric consultation through Newton-Wellesley’s Chair of Pediatrics, Joel Bass, MD. Dr. Bass also can provide assistance in coordinating care among multiple specialists.
