We offer a growing list of helpful resources, including information on development, healthy families, recommended books and where to turn for more serious mental health concerns.
The Clay Center for Young Healthy Minds at Massachusetts General Hospital This is a web-based resource that educates parents and other caregivers about the psychological development and emotional well-being of children, adolescents and young adults who struggle with behavioral, emotional and/or learning challenges.
AACAP Facts for Families While every child is unique and special, sometimes they encounter emotions, feelings or behaviors that cause problems in their lives and the lives of those around them. Families often worry when their child or teenager has difficulty coping with things, feels sad, can’t sleep, gets involved with drugs or can’t get along with family or friends. AACAP’s Facts for Families provide concise and up-to-date information on issues that affect children, teenagers, and their families.

Newton-Wellesley Hospital Outpatient Child/Adolescent Psychiatry Clinic Regardless of pediatrician affiliation, all families who live in the NWH primary service area (Natick, Needham, Newton, Waltham, Wellesley and Weston) have access to the NWH Child/Adolescent Psychiatry Outpatient Clinic if parents have any concerns about a possible mental health issue in their child. Similarly, within 24 hours, a referral from school will trigger a phone consultation for a child’s parents with one of our clinic social workers. Both parents and schools can call the Intake Line 617-243-5497 with any questions and/or to start the referral process.
Learning and Emotional Assessment Program (LEAP) The Learning and Emotional Assessment Program (LEAP) at Massachusetts General Hospital assesses children ages 2 to 22 that have developmental difficulties, and consults with their parents, teachers and care providers.
